A radical approach to

Couples Counseling

This is my wife and I on our wedding day.

As someone who has seen both of their parents get married 3 times, I knew that I wanted to do this marriage thing once. The right way.

But we would have never gotten to where we are today without putting in The Work in couples counseling

We needed a guide.

Someone to show us our blind spots.

Someone to get us aligned:
mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially.

The SEAR 4-Step Couples Counseling Process

  • Envision a Future

Get clear on what you each want out of life together. Connect on dreams, goals, aspirations.

  • Clarify Communication

Learn healthy communication styles, how to argue, and how to constantly reconnect.

  • Heal Your Hurts

Nobody heals alone. No matter what has happened in your life, your person can support and love you through it.

  • Become Best Friends

Happy relationships are based on a deep friendship. (Itโ€™s also the strongest predictor of a great sex life ๐Ÿ˜)

 FAQs

  • Each couples counseling session costs $175. Unlike other counselors, I will have you complete all of the intake assessments and client history before our first session so we can dive into the important work immediately.

  • I am an out-of-network provider for insurance. Depending upon your coverage and policy, you may be reimbursed a portion of the cost of our sessions through your health insurance

  • The length of treatment is determined on a case-by-case basis. The average couple may be in therapy for 8-12 sessions, which is considered short-term therapy in this field. Less distressed couples seeking therapy to regain intimacy and connection may require fewer sessions, while more highly distressed couples, perhaps dealing with infidelity issues, substance abuse, or trauma histories may require more sessions.

  • We structure therapy sessions either once a week or once every two weeks. Often when a couple is in significant distress we will meet once a week for approximately 5 sessions to hopefully get some relief and common ground built between you, then move to once every two weeks to continue building on that base.

  • I structure our sessions to last 50 minutes.

  • Thatโ€™s a big YES! One hour a week of therapy will not give you the relationship of your dreams. It will require work, but that work can and will be fun ๐Ÿ˜
